Just noticed you can't see the back of the cat. I finally figured out what this hat is - it's an interdimensional cat door. I. Am. Smart. - Experiment818

Heads should roll I tell you!!! The press has been just foul to those girls for years. Whoever designed that hat needs Erin set on them with a taser. Gah!!! - Robynlaurel

Robyn, I absolutely agree. The first thing I said to my husband when she got out of the car was, "Her stylist must hate her." - BLG

Here's what went wrong. You know how after a long walk at DL, your shoe lace gets loose and sometimes needs to be re-tied? Same thing here. - RadioMaverick

Even if she made her stylist mad, can't she look in the mirror and say, "No, I'm not wearing this?" I'm seriously baffled by this. And I do feel very sorry for these girls. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

No there has to be some kind of shenanigans going on for these girls to keep doing this to themselves over and over. Philip Treacey (sp?) designed a good deal of the most high profile hats at the wedding including Victoria Beckham's. He seriously could not have thought this was a good look. I keep playing in my head how this could have come about. I keep coming up with something about the girls finding out that he was doing Beckham's hat and so forth and asking for him to do theirs and him having a snigger about it with some of his high profile baggages and then coming up with that. But honestly, how can these girls keep getting set up like this and keep allowing it? How are they not looking in the mirror and saying, "Bite me, you !@$#!$. There's no way I'm wearing that!" and then going out and getting someone who can do right by them. I'm sure plenty of designers/stylists would jump at the chance. Something is off for this to be a recurring thing. - BLG

Or the girls themselves have the worst taste in history and insist on these disasters. But they must have people in their lives who love them and should be helping! I mean fergie puts herself together really well these days! Her people should step in, for reals. Actually now that Kate has proven she has the BEST taste in the history of time they should be her first project as duchess of Cambridge - Robynlaurel

Yeah, the whole thing is just bizarre. I didn't realize this was a Philip Treacey, also. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
436.3 #285 8:52PM
I thought that. I wonder what the relationship is like between Kate and the girls? And did Fergie even LOOK at what they were planning to wear and try to get them some consultation? Can they really be that clueless with respect to fashion? - BLG
1049.5 #82 8:53PM
Yes, it was a Treacey, SOS. He should be shot for that. - BLG
1049.5 #82 8:54PM
Maybe they were trying to attract negative attention like moz said, because fergie was not invited (the only sour note in the day I thought) - Robynlaurel

I wondered if the girls wore such outrageous outfits so that people would talk about them and the fact that their mother was not invited.

Robyn, that went through my mind - and my husband said it too. But why would they mock themselves to spite the RF? I don't think that works. And RocklinMW - I'll tell them - but they'd never admit it were true. LOL! - BLG
1049.5 #82 9:06PM
No you're right they wouldn't. It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma, with Treacey right in the gooey center of it all, spinning his web - Robynlaurel

There's this episode of I Love Lucy where they are in Paris and Lucy and Ethel wanted couture frocks, but of course the guys say no. Then they cook up a scheme to make the girls look foolish by getting a seamstress to make over potato sacks and lampshades. Mystery solved.
Also, it was my understanding that fergie was informally asked whether she would want an invitation and she declined. Thus, no formal invitation. - bluefairy

Ifrr, right?!!? Everyone made fun of gwyneth's saggy pepto bismol dress and cueball head when she won the Oscar and now they say it was an iconic fashion statement. - bluefairy
627.4 #174 10:21PM
I doubt this will ever be iconic. These girls aren't Gwyneth and Gwyneth would never have stepped outside with that on her head - BLG
