Question from a non-newbie-blonde-mid40's person of the female persuasion who doesn't know what an algorithm is (but I can spell it!!). I'm looking at the MW Crowd index and see that it's at 80/100 today but looking at wait times and pics of the crowds it doesn't look even close to that busy. Is the index an estimate for the day or based on real time numbers?
I've wondered this too... Hopefully get to see an answer! - BriHizzle

Its an estimate based on trends. - bubbaz161

an algorithm is an effective method expressed as a finite list of well-defined instructions for calculating a function. Algorithms are used for calculation, data processing, and automated reasoning.
Starting from an initial state and initial input, the instructions describe a computation that, when executed, will proceed through a finite number of well-defined successive states, eventually producing "output" and terminating at a final ending state. The transition from one state to the next is not necessarily deterministic; some algorithms, known as randomized algorithms, incorporate random input.. simply saying, the computer is taking a guess based on wait times from the past dates.. - DonaldMissingPants
