PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE ENTERING WAIT TIMES: First, thank you for entering them, each wait time entered helps our real-time accuracy and improves the algorithm. I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to enter wait times because they are very important to MouseWait and the entire community. Effective immediately, please DO NOT enter wait times from the wait board on Main Street - this board is historically inaccurate and is not updated enough to show real-time wait times. In many cases, MouseWait will display the correct wait time, then a time is entered from the wait board that is wrong or outdated. We do not consider the wait board to be accurate and this has been verified by several veteran MWs. ALSO I am catching a lot of people piggybacking times - this is when you simply enter the time (or close to the time) that is currently showing in MW WITHOUT observing the actual wait time of the attraction. We have several flags that go off in our system when this happens - sometimes I ban right away, and other times I wait to get more proof. When I ban a device for piggybacking I will not release the ban. Piggybacking abuses our wait times and it tampers with our MouseRank system. Please only enter times that you have observed first hand. THANK YOU!

Even better if you can verify the wait time yourself by waiting in line! - bluefairy

Question for you... when entering times, should you use the time that is listed at the entrance of the ride or actual time we waited for the ride? We are new to this and want to make sure we do this properly. Thanks! - jennjillo7

If you wait in the line it gives a more accurate wait time for other MWers - Evangeline
196.3 #1678 6:49PM
Is there was a way we could verify that the time is correct if the wait time is the same but the time stamp is an hour or two old. Is that considered piggybacking? - SammyGirl
5.1 #10256 6:51PM
I usually do both. Enter the time on the sign then time the wait. - CravingDisney
150.1 #2289 6:51PM
Either is fine, but if you happen to be in line, it doesn't hurt to time it yourself since sometimes the sign is wrong. - bluefairy
627.0 #174 6:52PM
I usually set my stopwatch when we get in the line and stop it when we get on. But sometimes if we I am not riding that ride I ask a CM at the entrance. - Mrsblue

Admin, I apologize for entering times off of the board. I was never told that I couldn't do that, and so I entered them. I now know and it won't happen again. - ekwhite
463.3 #262 7:03PM
@ekwhite - No, definitely don't worry about it, I just announced tonight that we weren't going to allow that anymore, it was never a rule before tonight so you didn't do anything wrong. Piggybacking has been a rule for a long time though and is a deliberate attempt to game the system. However, entering off the wait board is totally different, I finally had to disallow it because of how it was affecting times - so don't worry about it you did nothing wrong! - Admin
7:07PM
@jenn You can actually enter both of those, the actual wait in line is always the best, but the time on the sign is definitely ok too, since that is what most people go by to figure out if they are going on or not. - Admin
7:11PM
@sammy that is a good question - that is NOT considered piggybacking if you observed the time yourself. So if Pirates is showing 10min in MW, and then you go by and it is 10min, definitely put that time in to give us an updated stamp. Piggybacking is when someone is sitting on a bench entering all or even some of the times that currently show on the wait time list - it is not someone accidentally putting in a wrong time, I would never ban for that, piggybacking is intentional - Admin

zomg! HUGE THANK YOU TO YA Admin for giving me an answer to a question I've been trying to get to the bottom of since joining MW! :D hooray! - MinnieYooHoo

you just answered my question (I think). I was on CS the other day and the wait time posted was 20 min. When i got on to boarding it was 20 minutes so I enter that. Hope that doesn't break any rules - sickboy

Sammy that was a question I always had and I was afraid to enter in times if the time stamp was within 30 min of me getting there. Admin thank you very much for clearing that up for us! - KissDclown
1088.1 #76 7:34PM
So Mr. blue and I shouldn't both enter when we ride an attraction? Is that piggybacking - Mrsblue
692.4 #144 7:35PM
Thanks for the clarification admin. I was scared I was going to get banned after I think my one and only time update was the same as before. - Chadco
299.0 #614 7:37PM
I use a GAC pass so for example I go on the Matterhorn and it takes me 20min but today the regular line was wrapped around the backside. I estimated the time to be 45 min which was the previous time. This could look like piggybacking but I had a visual. - Plumiegirl
3322.0 #10 7:55PM
@sickboy that is fine because you are reporting times that you observed in person @kissdclown it is always better to have a current timestamp because that shows real-time info to people looking at the list @mrsblue you are doing it right, you are both observing the actual time, that is not piggybacking - piggybacking is intentional - it is when you have no clue what the wait time is, you are just entering what is on the MW list to gain MR. @chadco no prob! Legitimate members will not get banned, it is pretty easy for me to tell based on history/archives when someone is gaming the system - Admin

692.4 #144 7:57PM
Yes sir. . It's easy to see if the time are off a lot q are visible, Indy can be diffacutlt cause the q can be quit long. Walk up and check it out, ask a CM what the real wait time is, many of them have worked there long enough to tell you if it's off or not. - GoofyJoe

When we were walking around the park on Saturday posting wait times we kept noticing wrong wait times were being posted, it get frustrating when your trying to enter correct times and someone is entering wrong times. So thanks Admin for everything. - Sonja

Also Coaster mentioned that recently after he would close the Columbia and Mark Twain for the day, someone was reopening them. If a ride is closed don't open it unless you are sure it is open. - Mrsblue

So just to make sure im clear..if I walk up to BTM and the board at the ride says 30 min its ok to put that in..if I decide to then go on BTM and wait in line for 25 min it's then ok to put in 25 min - pridegirl

Thanks Mrs blue for ur question, its the same one sharkbait and I were just discussing. Glad to have it cleared up. I never post times cause he does and I didn't wanna get in trouble - mistressgracey

@pridegirl - yes enter the time on the sign in front of Big Thunder, then if the actual wait is 25min enter that - Admin

I always worried that legitimate people would be afraid to enter times due to the rules - just know that if your intention is to enter accurate times you will not get banned. I have seen a lot of people make legitimate mistakes and I would never ban for that. I look for patterns from users who are intentionally trying to game the system to get a higher rank - it is only a matter of time before they get banned. - Admin

Admin, I sent an email to Support last night & I know it takes time to read through all the stuff you get. I tried posting a wait time for Astro Blasters (actual standing in line) and got the dreaded message that my device was blocked. I have only posted actual standing line wait times although I think when I first started posting, may have inadvertently closed a ride in my attempt at posting an actual zero wait (walk on to the ride). Nothing sketchy about my posts. Can I pleeeeze be unblocked? I have never posted wait times from the Main Street board and I am not one that is seeking to up my MW rank by gaming anyone. Thanks. - weaver941

Admin would not ban you for closing a ride accidentally. - Mrsblue

Thanks, MrsBlue. I didn't think so, but I know entering times is such a sensitive thing and when I saw I was blocked, that was the only thing I could think of. Hope I get unblocked! - weaver941

I figured the GPS stamped where the times were entered. It's real tough for the times I have visited the park, the service is so sketchy, I can't report the times. Guess I'm not standing in a good G3 spot. - Mouse92im

Thanks for the clarification on posting wait times! I thought I was doing it wrong in Feb. because the app kept crashing every time I tried to post a time. Hopefully it'll work for me next weekend. - giddy4disney

@weaver - I don't think your device is banned sometimes if the phone loses connection it will give that message in error - also I didn't get an email from you did you send it to the support email? - Admin
3:01PM
Hi Admin. I used the support link to send the email. Maybe my phone was on the fritz! I will try again next time I'm @ the park. I got a free pass from jury duty tomorrow, I might try to go after dropping the kids off @ school to test it out. Thanks for responding! - weaver941
