Getting taxes back means the IRS has taken an interest free loan from you for the last year; and the kicker is that if you don't file exactly correctly, you might not get all of what they "borrowed" back. - DisneylandDreamin

I agree with all if you about not wanting to give the government our money to hold intrest free. But here's the kicker, I'm not very good at saving money and if it weren't for getting a large tax return my family would not be able to afford or premium passes. As much as I hate helping the government by letting them hold all my money all year, it is nice to have a chunck of change to be able to by done stuff and pay off a few bills. - MedievalMickey

Due to the recent tax law change, the Internal Revenue Service (”IRS”) and many software providers had a short window to make all the necessary changes to allow taxpayers to electronically file their tax returns and have the IRS be able to process those returns. The delay followed the December 17 enactment of the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, which extended a number of expiring provisions including the state and local sales tax deduction, higher education tuition and fees deduction and educator expenses deduction.
The IRS just announced that it plans a February 14 start date for processing tax returns delayed by last month’s tax law changes. - HotDiggityDogDaddy
