Ahhhhhhhh!
My first post on my brand new iPhone 4 :0 but it's not a happy way of getting a new phone! Some one actually stole my 3GS right out of my purse yesterday while I was happily trying on shoes at DSW :( those ended up being very expensive flats!!!!

Oh man that's terrible! Hubby is so jealous of my 4 and his 3GS has started to intermittently not work right (reception cutting out even when it says he has bars/3G) he keep complaining about it and conspiring to totally break it so he has an excuse to get a 4. But if he waits less than 3 months he can get it for only $200! - TickledTink

Yup. That's what sucks I had to pay an ADDITIONAL $200 because my upgrade wasn't until September and I am sadly attached to the iPhone:0 so my 16 gig was more than my sons 32 gig! Oy!
No insurance but I don't think it applies to lost or stolen anyway. I checke my history from when it happened to when I realized(only about 40 minutes) and they made calls so I called the numbers and warned them that I had made a police report and their numbers were in the report! - jerzanemama

there are supposed to be apps that you can track the phone even if they take out the sim card and turn it off and leads the police right to the phone - Rob512

I feel so violated! All of my old emails and pics of my family and notes ugh it makes me sick! I had texted my son at 12:25 and by 12:40 they were making calls. I can't believe they just slipped it out and yeah didn't touch my wallet. That almost would have been better! I had like $5 and all that could have been cancelled and end of story. I have so much personal stuff on my phone. I never had the lock thing either. I do now!!!! - jerzanemama

I'll look into the apps AT&T and apple just kept asking if I had mobile me. Nope. I hope I can eventually be happy about my new iPhone but I'm still bummed and to make it more ridiculous it's my birthday so this is my birthday present:/ not complaining cuz it's a great present just wasn't how I imagined it. - jerzanemama

Okay. I sound like a clueless brat. I just had that icky, violated, wanna cry, loss of the belief in humanity feeling all day and figured fellow MW'ers would understand. Deep breath. That's better. :) thanks! - jerzanemama

@rob it's all backed minus a couple days. It's more some sick moralless person looking at MY life. Everyone has all said these thieves almost always burn everything and put it on eBay and don't even look. I just have a wild imagination! Lol - jerzanemama

It is normal to feel violated, esp when something so personal is stolen. Since it's worth quite a bit, that makes it grand theft which is a felony. Maybe the police will be serious about it and be able to catch them. Especially if they were stupid and bought something at the store w/ a cc or something. - TickledTink
352.8 #406 6:46AM
I hope the police follow through as well but I doubt it :( I tried to ask to see the security tapes but they said I had to have hire my own lawer to see them because the "tapes" aren't actually on sight. I wished I could because I would hunt them down myself! I considered a lawer and pi and all that stuff but my hubby says let it go and don't stress:/ I actually called the numbers they had called before I suspended the line and told them that my stolen phone had called their numbers and was now in a police report so consider yourself warned!!! Ha ha my police man did not think that was very smart but I was sooo mad :{ - jerzanemama

That's terrible, I would be just sick if someone stole my phone. The 'Find My iPhone' part of mobileme is wonderful, you can see where your phone is by using your computer, it comes up on a map. You can even wipe the iPhone clean remotely so it erases everything on it. - Simon

I can totally sympathize! I was at a party at NYE last year and someone broke into the locked room with the women's purses and stole mine and a few others. It had my parents' house key and a brand new camera with personal family photos, but I just happened to have my phone in my pocket that night. The worst part is they actually tried to break into my parents' house with the key but THANKFULLY my dad had the locks changed immediately. It's just so unfair and violating... I hope you get some justice! - Neverland31

It's the worst feeling. My husband had his stolen at gunpoint behind his back and not even in a bad area. He felt so violated and helpless. We got him another iPhone but it took him a while to get over that feeling. The fact that they knew he had an iPhoneeant that they were watching him. And that's even more scary. Sorry that happened to you. {{{hugs}}} - sharminlea
