some of you guys are just disneyland hotel PROS, so i'd like to ask some questions. i'm turning 17 in april and i want to do something for my birthday on sunday april 3rd at disneyland. my top choice is to spend a night at one of the three hotels at DLR on saturday and go to the parks on sunday. which hotel do you recommend (tight budget)? how packed do you think it'll be? how much is this going to cost me (...er, my mom)? thank you! :)
Does it have to be a on-property hotel or can it be a local place - HotDiggityDogDaddy

With friends or fam? & is Disneyland gonna be the focus of your birthday celebration (other than you being the focus of course). - PrincessSarah

i'd rather it be on-property for the experience (i went for my cousin's birthday and it was really fun) because i live in socal so it'd be pointless to do it at a non-disney hotel since i could just sleep at my house and drive 30 mins to the park. - paigito

Best bet, call Disney Reservation line. They can give you hotel pricing for all three right over the phone. That is what I would do. - HotDiggityDogDaddy

Paradise Pier is the cheapest of the 3 hotels. - Dizkid

Paradise Pier is certainly the most affordable. The DL hotel would be fun for teens if the new pool complex was done, but I don't think it will be by April. My favorite is the Grand but my mom wouldnt want to pay that bill! - dLittleMermaid

that's what i've been reading, that PP is the cheapest. i was looking for a number...i think it was around $200ish at PP in february for my cousin's birthday. - paigito

how much is a standard room at the grand? just teasing myself a little. i definitely know that i'm not going there. my mom would laugh in my face. maybe slap me to make sure i wasn't sleep talking or something. - paigito

Hmmm...the tourists will be back for spring, so I imagine the great deals for the grand will be over by then. If you're on a budget, then paradise pier is the cheapest (usually under $200) and I hear its easy to get an upgrade there. Whatever you do, make sure they know it is your birthday, couldn't hurt. I have only stayed at dh and gc. The grand is the easiest one to get to, if you plan to go back to the room a lot. - bluefairy

In April the resort properties skyrocket in price. Not sure exact prices but you're least expensive option is going to be PP. - CravingDisney

The grand is usually $300-400 per night, though I heard there were $200ish deals lately. - bluefairy

thank you for the ballpark figures! i've been looking all over the place for even a broad range of room rates and nobody even talks about the price of the rooms, other than saying "expensive."
when we stayed at PP, we got upgraded to park view on the 13th floor and it was spectacular. - paigito

If you're an annual passholder, have you tried looking for any AP rates? - cenicienta
