Does anyone or any CM's on here Know if the scents you smell On Main St. are real for example the smell of popcorn, candy, cookie ect. I heard the scents are pumped in through vents because Walt wanted to touch on all of our senses when we visited DL. Is this a myth or is it fact 
I think it's a myth. With all the food people have walking around, in the trash, and on the ground, I'm pretty sure the smells are real. - 0wnage

I believe the scents are real but they do pump the smells into the street. I think there's a pump in the candy store and the popcorn is dome in a similar way. Another MWer will put you straight if I'm wrong. - BLG

I watched a video about the candy store one. It was an official DL one done at the holidays when they were doing the candy canes. - BLG

Not a CM but I don't think they have to. There are real popcorn carts and the candy and baked goos are there on Main Street too. - Coaster

I know that smell it's the same over at the mark twain after if passes by. I think it's the type of fuel they use for some of the vehicles. It's smells like butter popcorn. Weird - Gadgetman

The only smell pumped in is right in front of the candy store...if u look below the window u can hear feel it coming out the vents.....ok this is weird but has anyone noticed how good the bathrooms smell at dland lately? In adventureland it smelled like pineapple and in fantasyland next to Matterhorn in smelled like bubble gum - Dave

According to Disneyland Detective by Kendra Trahan, it is true. Specifically, it mentions vanilla scent being emitted in front of the Candy Palace. It doesn't mention Walt's involvement. - Gruyère

Crap, it was so long ago when I worked as a CM in the outdoor vending dept... I can recall the popcorn machines have a small fan at the top that blows the smell of the freshly popped popcorn into the air (the free popcorn that is given to DL from Orville). I was told about and shown the vents in the candy kitchen during orientation but I was never sure if it is the natural smell or scented air. I think it's both. - Polkadobo

I loved doing new hire orentations...yes polkodod that's one of the spots we took new hires too in all depts.....there is no other smell vents like that in the park - Dave

The smell in DCA of the sourdough bread gets me everytime! Omg. That bread is so freaking delicious!!!! I love to take the mickey bresd home and make spaghetti aandwiches! - MozGirl
