When I was in high school there was a boy younger than I and he dressed as the joker (even cut his face and everything.) I made it a point to say hi to him every day so he knew someone saw him as a human and nothing else. A month or so into the school year he stabbed a classmate on campus. What my point is is that we need to remember that there are people in the world who get so caught up psychologically in a different persona that they act upon it. If you know anyone who is like that, PLEASE get them help or contact someone who can. You aren't just saving their life, but you could be saving many others as well. I just want to say that it gives some comfort in a world that is increasingly losing sight in values and seems to get a little more unsettling everyday---that there are still so many good people who turn to their faith in something greater then themselves, whatever the faith might be in, I know it's really the only thing that gives me strength and comfort in dark times, I would truly be lost without it. I'm not big on prayer but I thank this community so much. I have lived in Aurora for the last 31 years and have never experienced anything like this. I tell you that the only thing that has helped me get through this day is looking at all your amazing pictures. I have been responding and checking with all my friends to make sure no one I know was there and as far as I know, we were lucky that none of my family or friends were there. I work at a Century theater and was shocked and absolutely disgusted to hear the news. My thoughts and condolences go out to all the victims and their families. The shooter came from Riverside, CA and this has now been the largest mass shooting in history. It just reminds us how precious life is. Don't take the people in your life for granted, live your life well and to the fullest, if you love someone let them know every day and never be afraid of a mistake.
