I finally got a chance to try out Carnation Cafe food on Monday, here's my review on it, remember we all have different taste! We ordered the now famous Pb&j soda and the Chocolate Cherry Coke. I didn't like the pb&j soda at all, it just tasted weird to me and it also left a strange after taste in your mouth, I did like the CCC thou, that one was yummy. If I had to describe the taste I have to say it tasted like a liquid tootsie roll. I got the baked potato which was everything I expected, delicious! It also filled me up. We had the fried pickles which I will never order again. They taste like nothing but pickles, I guess I was expecting them to taste a bit different but even with the dipping sauce that's all you taste. I'm not a fan of pickles so I guess if you are then you will love these. The last thing I ordered was the turkey sandwich, it was just an ordinary turkey sandwich, nothing special but I would order it again. It came with fries which were delicious! All in all I would most definitely try the Chocolate Cherry Coke, Bakes Potato Soup, and Turkey Sandwich again, those get a thumbs up from me. Happy eating. :)

Nice review! I've had fried pickles once at a theatre here in Oregon and I didn't care much for them. I wish DL would make a good hand rolled jalepeno popper! - madsdad  1119.6 #73 7-5-12 1:37PM Like(5)  Reply
Totally agree with you about jalapeño poppers. Those would be an excellent addition to the park. - apanda1983  180.0 #1858 7-5-12 1:40PM
Oh, I would love to have some jalapeño poppers at dl. - aidensmama  336.3 #440 7-5-12 2:22PM

Poppers?! Did someone say poppers?!? - joyfulmomma  229.4 #1246 7-5-12 5:02PM
The county fairs down here have a jalapeno popper stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon! - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #106 7-5-12 5:03PM
I discovered this yummy bite at a place in Portland and I've been makin it at home, you hollow out a jalepeno, stuff it with a creamy goat cheese, dip it in a cornstarch water mixture, then wrap extra thin sliced bacon around it and grill it. It's so amazing. - madsdad  1119.6 #73 7-5-12 5:43PM
That...sounds...AMAZING!!!!! - Slotherini  882.3 #99 7-5-12 5:49PM
Lane I've had those at the OC fair. Those grilled jalapeño poppers are delicious! - apanda1983  180.0 #1858 7-5-12 5:50PM
Yup! The OC Fair is where I saw them last year! I wasn't brave enough to try them. I don't really like the texture of hot cream cheese. - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #106 7-5-12 5:54PM
They best jalapeño poppers I've had are at a sushi restaurant by my house. They have cream cheese and a delicious sauce in them. I don't even know how to describe them but they are the best. - aidensmama  336.3 #440 7-5-12 6:03PM
@ madsdad, are you bringing some of those to the meetup? - MightyWhitey  648.3 #164 7-5-12 7:09PM
*Ahem...Nick graciously added his jalapeño popper recipe to the MW cookbook.... :D - DisneyFanZoe  1083.8 #77 7-5-12 8:40PM
We went on our last trip. It was our favorite place to eat so we were so excited that it was opening the weekend we were there. Sadly, we were all disappointed. Although the changes on the menu didn't seem that big, it just was different. The food seemed off as well as the service. I loved just ordering a bowl of soup, or the half sandwich and soup. But not there anymore. My dad had the fish and was really disappointed in the quality. Good news was the soup was still really good!  So glad the didn't change that!  Just seemed like they want this to be a fancy experience - emnldsmom  189.3 #1753 7-5-12 2:22PM Like(1)  Reply
Sorry, having comment issues! Seemed that they are going a different way with the drinks with these foams and the other menu items. I also don't know if sitting inside changed the whole thing? It just seemed so different, lol. I will go back and try again sitting outside and ordering my favorite soup ever! - emnldsmom  189.3 #1753 7-5-12 2:33PM
I'm glad they still have the soup, but bummed they took away my eggs Benny. - bluefairy  627.0 #173 7-6-12 3:30AM

Great review!  Was at Carnation over the weekend, and the people's reactions to the PB & J drink are mixed.  But most definitely will try the baked potato soup! - Willierose  1172.6 #68 7-5-12 2:03PM Like  Reply
I must try that soup. It looks so good. I'm not a fan of pickles either. Down with pickles. J/k. - aidensmama  336.3 #440 7-5-12 2:05PM Like  Reply

I did too, my new favorite! However if you don't like pickles that much, they really aren't for you. - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #106 7-5-12 2:56PM

We had the pickles (which I loved) , green chile cheeseburger (amazing) and the meatloaf (yum!). I can't wait to go try some of the other items they offer - dessertLOVER  45.0 #3847 7-5-12 6:19PM Like  Reply
I had some fried pickles at a diner not too long ago and they're seriously just hot pickles. That's all it tastes like. Even with the ranch, so that was spot on. I'm super disappointed about the pb and j soda though! :-( had high hopes, but wont be trying it now. - mermaidhair  176.3 #1904 7-5-12 7:08PM Like  Reply
Pickles are gross...yuck! - AndrewDom  257.4 #928 7-5-12 8:23PM
^they sure are. I guess you either love them or hate them. I hate them. - aidensmama  336.3 #440 7-5-12 8:38PM
Since the reopening im not happy. They took away the pot pies and the the steak sandwich. There menu just is blah for lunch now. I will have to try the breakfast next time - thumpur  230.5 #1229 7-5-12 10:07PM Like  Reply
We had lunch there on Saturday and both left very satisfied. Honestly, if you don't like pickles, just don't bother with the fried pickles!! Why would you anyway? :P I thought they were REALLY good, if you like fried pickles in general. I loved the breading they use, and the pickle inside still had crunch to it. That doesn't always happen with fried pickles. I have to disagree with the turkey sandwich opinion too...that's what I ate and I love the deli mustard they put on it. It's mixed with something else, and they also put it on the turkey sandwich at Jolly Holiday and it adds so much flavor! My husband had the chicken fried chicken and really enjoyed it as well. He especially liked the gravy they put on it. - DaisyBell  668.4 #153 7-5-12 10:36PM Like  Reply
Oh! And I'm super excited that they have fries there now!! I much prefer those to the side salad with the turkey sandwich. - DaisyBell  668.4 #153 7-5-12 10:39PM
The vegan burger is pretty tasty. I liked it. My husband wasn't a fan. He didn't like that the beans that made it up (along with other things) kinda fell out as you ate it. Still, I appreciate that Disney made a vegan option. The fries were really good too! - Vegan7LuvsStitch  798.6 #116 7-6-12 7:50AM Like  Reply
You can buy that pretzel bread that the sandwich is made on at Costco! - topdisneymom  239.7 #1114 7-6-12 9:42AM Like  Reply
