Disneyland Talk

This Land is for Disney talk only
7.7 #7775 DL Qual #2806 5-20-12 5:05PM
Sadly the price increase has taken over the lounge (rightfully so). The reality is majority of people who enjoy the park do not live in S Cal or have big families (perfect for Disneyparks). THEY will feel the Effects of the increase. Disney is their serenty, hope & magic im a torn society. Disney is more to some than an amusement park, its a state of mind. I feel for everyone & if I or my family could help EVERYONE we would. Hope, Love & all things Disney will get US thru this
If I may be so bold, seems to me the Reunion pics have replaced the price talk in the Lounge. Which I'm totally ok with! 😃👍 - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #107 5-20-12 6:40PM Like(5)  Reply

Everyone Will Feel The Effect Of The Price Increase. It's Not Cheap Living In So Cal + The Price For Gas Here.  - Blaine951  243.2 #1066 5-20-12 5:47PM Like(1)  Reply
I will agree that there is not hotel cost or flights. But I think most locals with passes would agree that we spend almost every trip on food and stuff. Think of it this way: as an out of towner you still go to entertaining things (movies, out to eat, mini golf etc) locals (at least in my case) use Disney as all those other entertainment. I know my boyfriend and I often go to dinner at Disney or go there instead of seeing a movie. So I don't think we really spend less at the park. I hope this makes sense. We actually counted how much we spent in the park one year, it was a lot, like I was embarrassed how much. - Pixarprincess  531.4 #214 5-20-12 6:15PM Like(1)  Reply
I like your positive post about this issue b/c I really don't believe that DL is just for locals OR out of town folks such as myself. It really can be for everyone, just a matter of budgeting and prioritizing. Sure, some people can go to DL more than others for many reasons but that is how life is. Believe me if I lived in SoCal I would be there as much as possible and loving every minute of it! In fact, my kids are super young but I am already trying to talk them into going to college down there so we can retire close by DL! 😊 - MinnieMousewife  570.0 #193 5-20-12 6:24PM
@Pixarprincess I Agree With You.  I Use Disneyland As Entertainment As Well. My Wife And I Still Go Down To Disney And Get A Hotel Most Of The Time. Not Everyone In Southern Califorina Lives 10mins Away From Disneyland.   - Blaine951  243.2 #1066 5-20-12 7:06PM
Agreed but living in S Cal is alot more convient to use the pass than those who have to travel, get a hotel, food etc. when in S Cal u can just go home when done, pack a lunch from ur house, as for gas...... Theres no ways around it - seventwentytwo  7.7 #7775 5-20-12 6:08PM Like  Reply
I agree with this. Getting a Deluxe AP was the only way we could justify the airfare or gas for the 1000 mile journey to Anaheim twice a year. We'll probably cut down to once a year to cover the increase. We will still come, we love DL way too much not too. - minigirl1156  411.7 #314 5-20-12 6:12PM
I just wish we all had payment options especially now with these rates. - Mikemcl  229.9 #1242 5-20-12 6:13PM Like  Reply

It is a hard reality, and i feel for everyone locally and those of us who have to travel to get to the happiest place on earth. Disneyland will always create the magic and be a happy place for people of all walks of life to retreat to for a vacation from the real world. I don't think it's about carsland or purely about money. I think crowd control is behind it. The 1 million plus ap holders is too large a demographic. It changed grad night, it made the leap year promotion chaos etc. I am not against the thinning of ap holders but i think unintentionally its the american family with kids that gets hurt the most in the wallet based on this current strategy. I'm not trying to complain. I will make up my own mind and i'm sure i will try to figure out a way to still go. But this has made it increasingly harder for a family to enjoy what walt built. They could have jacked the price of the deluxe and premium while keeping park hoppers still reasonable. That way yeah, locals and die hards pay more but they would get their moneys worth based on frequency. While families can still afford three to five day trips once in a while. Under the new pricing a family of 5 will pay more today for a three day visit than they woukd have for a deluxe annual pass in 08. That doesn't seem right. But it is still the best place on the planet and we still love our disneyland. - DlandDude  259.7 #910 5-20-12 6:25PM Like  Reply
Well as much as I love Disney this will be my last year to be a AP. I have been a AP dingo I was 10 and I was trying to teach my kids the same way to continue the tradition. With the price changes makes harder for me to even consider to renew. I will be going once a year at least but as AP I would have to tell my kids we just can't afford it not even on a payment plan its just to much for me. Well the count down has began November is the last time I'll be a AP. - Enome  9.4 #6965 5-20-12 6:36PM Like  Reply
