What age is good to start a pin collection? I'm considering starting one for both my 6 year old and 3 year old so they can add some trading with CM fun on our February trip.
I am starting them for all my grand kids. Ages 7 days old to 4 yrs - Jimineycricket  197.1 #1667 12-9-11 10:51AM Like(1)  Reply
Any tips for making the lanyards as comfortable as possible? What's a good number to start with for trading? - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3044 12-9-11 11:07AM Like(1)  Reply
I would start with one of the starter sets we have. They come in Mickey, Pirates, NBC, etc. The lanyards are smaller for kids and come with 4-6 pins. - BaseballMickey_CM  2863.7 #16 12-9-11 11:09AM
Thank you baseballMickey_CM. I am clueless on the pins, but know they would have fun with it. - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3044 12-9-11 11:14AM

Thank you all! I think you have all talked me into it. I will be on the look out for a starter set that fits each of their inerests. Maybe that's how I'll surprise them with our trip in February, give them their lanyard and pins, explain about trading with CMs at Disneyland, and say why don't we go do that right now :) - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3044 12-9-11 7:50PM Like(1)  Reply
If you are on a budget there are some great kids lanyards with a zip pouch on eBay and you can also get some great deals on lots of pins. This is what we do. Each trip, everyone can fill their lanyard from the 100 pins we purchase and we keep the rest for future trips. My 3 year old loves to trade and this way we can all enjoy hunting down our favorite characters without breaking the bank. I'm always sure to purchase from eBay-ers who guarantee genuine pins and I have never been disappointed! - cynDOLEwhip  744.1 #137 12-9-11 8:18PM Like(1)  Reply
I started to collect pins for my son and he is 3. He wears his lanyard when we go to Disneyland and we usually get him a pin each visit. - ILoveMySickBoys  291.2 #663 12-9-11 10:48AM Like  Reply

Our twins started when they were 4.  It was so great and they have loved it ever since.  Now that they are 8, they have a ton of pins to show off from their trips and they even take them to school for show and tell.   - chuswo  279.1 #741 12-9-11 11:33AM Like  Reply
That's what I'm hoping for with my boys :) - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3044 12-9-11 1:45PM
My husband and 7 year old love to pin trade. We started her out at age 4 and now she has 100's of pins. We now have a 20 month old son that just started. Your never too young! My 20 month loves to pin trade. We just got him a small lanyard, tied a knot in the back to make it fit and started him out with 4 pins. The cast members love to trade with him and see that he actually understands how the trading works. Your kids will love it and be hooked for life! Plus it gives you something fun to do when the parks are crazy crowded. - Familyof4LoveDisney  6.7 #8451 12-9-11 2:35PM Like  Reply
