Reminder: Never think one apply of sun screen will protect you all day. Especially when it's your first day laying out in a year.
I'm currently suffering from a nasty sunburn! What's everyone up to?
Sunburns are no fun! Banana boat makes a really good after sun lotion and it's cheap! It's the only lotion I can use that makes my skin tan after burning so I don't have a gross peel! What am I up to? Figuring out a way I can coax my fiancé into taking me to dlan tommorow! Lol - Mouseketeer.for.Short335.3 #451 7-2-11 9:05PMLike Reply
Yikes. Have had a few suburns or slight pink tint to skin after sitting out at my 9yr olds baseball games on a few really sunny days during the season. The worse was because I forgot to put sunscreen on that morning. The other times I put it on and it didn't help anything but my face. Go figure. I'm glad my kids didn't end up with my Irish skin though and they don't burn like I do or end up sun kissed with more freckles *sigh* - TheRealEvilQueen24.4 #4713 7-2-11 9:08PMLike Reply
Keep up on your fluids and maybe some gatorade. Keep your skin moist and cool. If you get sick seek medical attention. Feel better - SupremeLeader394.0 #341 7-2-11 9:16PMLike Reply
I wish people would be more careful. Skin cancer is no joke. - BLG1049.5 #82 7-2-11 9:18PMLike Reply
I am a sun screen nazi. My kids rarely if ever have been sunburned. I got a slight one on my neck a few weeks ago but nothing bad. My mom has skin cancer cut out all of the time because she spent so many years laying out. - Mrsblue692.4 #145 7-2-11 9:20PMLike Reply
Word! Skin cancer scares the poop outta me! I also am a sunscreen nazi. - TandAlly213.5 #1440 7-2-11 9:22PMLike Reply
Soak a towel in cold milk and put it on the burn. It takes away the sting. Hope you feel better. - n.corvello22.9 #4827 7-2-11 9:23PMLike Reply
My otherwise healthy, olive-skinned neighbour I grew up next door to died of it at 21. I had a hunk cut out of my arm about two years ago. I know a couple others who've died of it. So not worth that "healthy" glow. - BLG1049.5 #82 7-2-11 9:24PMLike Reply
Skin cancer was my masters project and OZ Had the best research done on it. US is just not that with it. - Plumiegirl3350.3 #10 7-2-11 9:25PMLike Reply
Oh no, sorry to hear that!! Hope the sunburn goes away quickly!! - MinnieMousewife570.4 #194 7-2-11 9:25PMLike Reply
Im stupid and always say I'm fine cause my burns always turn into tans. Skin cancer is in my family... It's time to invest in good sunscreen. Thanks for all the advise! My aloe seems to be soothing... - shewastomorrow55.9 #3644 7-2-11 9:25PMLike Reply
I usually use an aloe gel after being out in the sun. I'm a quarter Irish, so the burns come as fast as five minutes. I think the brand I use is ocean potion. - DelilahJo3178.6 #1880 7-2-11 9:26PMLike Reply
You're not stupid, don't say that. Burns are burns, even if they turn tan. Just be careful next time, promise? - DisneyFanZoe1099.1 #75 7-2-11 9:29PMLike Reply
Ouch! I feel your pain. I did that last summer. Lost all track of time in the pool. I was as red as a lobster, in so much pain, and my skin was swollen. Really bad second degree burn. I applied cool cloths and blue emu lotion, and that really helped me a lot. Hoping you feel much better soon - HiddenMickeys216.4 #1400 7-2-11 9:40PMLike Reply
Ahhh Ash I'm so sorry luv. I'm glad u r using aloe...keep drinking and rest. I bet you are wiped out. Put on a good movie and chill. Air hug!!!! - CoralsReef319.2 #525 7-2-11 9:40PMLike Reply
Ibuprofen might help with the pain if you dont have any issues with that OTC med - Plumiegirl3350.3 #10 7-2-11 9:52PMLike Reply
You're not stupid - I've done it, but now I'm paying the price. And Plumie - that's interesting. Oz has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world. Such a tragedy to see people - otherwise healthy - across a range of ages and ethnicities - get struck down by something that can be prevented. Shewas - I really hope you get some relief. It really is very painful. - BLG1049.5 #82 7-2-11 9:54PMLike Reply
I totally relate!! Today I put sunblock on but then went in the pool for hours and forgot to reapply. Burnt shoulders and back are hurting. Have been walking around with my aloe bottle all night. Hope u feel better as well. - WannaBeAtDisneyland148.4 #2317 7-2-11 10:09PMLike Reply
Old life guard trick. Get a towel and immures in cool water. Ring out excess water and wrap towel around area or place on back or front. Let sit for 10-15 min. The towel pulls out heat in skin. The towel will get warm. Repeat as many times as needed. Good luck. - People_Mover24.1 #4742 7-2-11 10:15PMLike Reply
